No, you did not read the title incorrectly. This event really is free!
Goldsboro’s Center Stage Theatre has made A Christmas Carol an annual tradition for the past nine years, but this year is promised to include a few new surprises!
One new twist that this year’s Christmas Carol cast will offer is an interactive candlelight tour of the Charles B. Aycock Birthplace. Not only does this tour offer the public a new experience for this traditional Christmas story, but it also allows individuals to view specific scenes from this year’s production in a historically accurate setting.
Free to the public, guests will be taken on an interactive tour that includes stops along the way. These stops will allow the guests to get a sneak peek of special scenes from this year’s production as well as take pictures of their experience. Guests will be able to experience first-hand several significant parts of Scrooge’s journey that has captivated readers and audiences for generations, including many beloved characters.
This event will be held at the Charles B. Aycock Birthplace (264 Govenor Aycock Rd, Fremont, NC 27830) on December 2nd from 7-9PM.
This will be a memorable experience for guests of all ages! Heath Radford, Vice President and also Outreach Coordinator for CST, has been working diligently along Anne Merritt, Assistant Outreach Coordinator, and Stephen Langston, the Director of this year’s Christmas Carol, to guarantee that this event will be a success.
“It will be a fun family event to start off the holiday season,” Radford says, “and I hope that guests will join us a week later to see our full production of this Goldsboro tradition!”
Langston agrees. “The cast and crew have been working for many weeks in preparation of bringing these characters to life. This is definitely something that you and your family will not want to miss!”
Merritt has been doing a lot of leg work for this project in making sure that all of the final touches are ready for the big night. “We’re really excited to promote this show in a new way” Merritt says, “Depending on how this event goes, maybe we’ll have similar events in the future!”
CST’s 9th annual Christmas Carol will be held at the Goldsboro Paramount Theatre (139 S Center St, Goldsboro, NC 27530) on December 9th and 10th at 7:30PM and also December 11th at 3PM. There will also be two school shows available on Friday, December 9th.
